Growing up in Oregon!
Law School in California!
Making our home in Arizona!
Cochise County, here to stay!
I grew up in rural Oregon. My dad owned a construction company and my teenage years were filled with running heavy machinery, finishing concrete and long days flagging in construction zones. These experiences taught me how to work hard.
As a young adult, I served a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Brazil. I learned to face discouragement and gained resilience through learning a new language while being immersed in a different country. (1999-2001)
After I got married, I worked in several different jobs to provide for our growing family. I worked as a general construction laborer, garage door and cabinet installer, sales estimator, and mortgage loan officer. As a family we cared for individuals in a Resident Foster Care Home for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. All of these opportunities gave me valuable life experiences. (2001-2010)
I earned an Associates of Arts Oregon Transfer Degree from Rogue Community College (2002- 2004) and a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Southern Oregon University (2006-2010). During this time, I developed a life-long love for numbers and theory of mathematics. By the time I finished my bachelor's degree my wife and I were busy raising our three amazing children.
I applied to Law school and was admitted to the University of the Pacific; McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California. With my wife's support we picked up our family and started this new adventure. (2010-2013)
After receiving my Juris Doctorate we moved to San Tan Valley, Arizona where I sat for the bar. (2013)
I went through Correction Officer Training Academy (COTA) while awaiting the bar results. I continued to work as a Correction Officer for the next two years. Working in the Correction's Department gave me unique experiences and life lessons. During this time I took a hard look at my future and my career path. I considered working for both Border Patrol and as a Parole Officer. (2013-2015)
As a family, we decided to take a different path. Upon leaving the Correction's Department I practiced contract & personal injury law while my wife worked as a Teacher-In-Residence earning her teaching certificate by taking college classes and teaching full-time in the classroom for the next two years. This was my chance to support my wife in her education and career pursuits. (2015-2018)
After my wife earned her teaching certificate and felt established in her first few years teaching, I started applying for Attorney positions in criminal law. I was offered a Criminal Defense Attorney position for Cochise and Mohave County within the same week. (2018)
Upon consideration of both career opportunities and considering raising our family in a place we could call home we decided Cochise County was where we wanted to be. I have been a Deputy Legal Advocate at Cochise County Office of Legal Advocates for the last 5 years. (2019-present)
